Bitterzoet in Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Sunday 23rd of April, Amsterdam. French indie pop trio Oracle sisters take the stage and capture the attention of the diverse collection of fans.  The band formed in Paris, where childhood friends Lewis Lazar and Christopher Willat met Finish musician Julia Johanssen. Since debuting in 2018 with their single “Always” Oracle Sisters have stolen the hearts of many and collected more than 20 million listens on Spotify and Apple music combined with their dreamy sound. This evening is part of their newest album Hydranism tour. Dazzling melodies and layered guitar tunes of their songs create and uplifting spirit that can be felt throughout the whole room at Bitterzoet. Their captivating sound make you want to close your eyes and float on the music. Combining elements of psychedelia with their unique troubadour spirit makes for a sound you can only love. Especially live their harmonies will undoubtedly mesmerise you. The whole song, but especially whistle solo from the song Tramp Like You from the new album can only be described as five minutes of peaceful, almost euphoric bliss. Using a range of sounds of instruments Oracle Sisters’ sound is unexpected and complex, yet never overwhelming or messy. The band has mastered the art of finding a balance between fine vocals and instrumental complexity. All accompanied by poetic lyrics (‘Our irises swirl like a storm in to amber blues’) that make you want to listen again and again. Oracle Sisters have perfectly captured what I imagine the sound of spending a tranquil Sunday afternoon with beautiful people in the warm sun is like.
