Article: Women's March 2018

Last month, I got the amazing opportunity to not only participate in Colorado’s 2nd Women’s March, but also to capture the beauty of the movement occurring around me. As hundreds-of-thousands of people marched through the streets of downtown Denver, it became apparent that the Women’s March was so much more than I had expected. The Women’s March is interesting, in that, it does not just take on one issue. From abortion to Black Lives Matter to DACA to LGBT rights to climate change, there was representation by every demographic for countless issues that affect women, united together, supporting each other. Getting to see all of the different perspectives of the women around me and viewing the diverse causes that they were protesting was such a surreal experience. The inclusivity of the movement was so amazing too because it ensured that everyone there, no matter their race, gender, social class, religion, etc. felt welcome. The Women’s March is not about making women superior. It is about equality and ensuring that everyone’s voice is heard.
