Resin the Roof

Cleveland, OH based jewelry business founded by Madison Brattoli

What made you interested in starting a business?

Honestly, during quarantine it was hard to find motivation to do anything so I decided to take up making resin jewelry. I had seen many Tik Toks making different things out of resin and thought it would be a fun hobby to take up. It started as a hobby and as I posted my earrings on my personal snapchat people started to show interest in buying my products. I began just selling my earrings to my close friends. Then they started to share on their personal social medias and the business just grew from there.

Why did the medium of resin attract you?

Mostly Tik Tok videos I saw. I started to scroll through the #resinart every time it popped up on my FYP. I then started to think about how I could make my own and create an aesthetic that was true to me.

You’ve expanded your business to cover many different products than it originally offered. What other directions or items would you like to create?

I have thought about making personalized shot glasses. I recently bought the mold to make them but just like all of my products, it is hard to engage what my audience is interested in buying.

During warmer weather, I am excited to start releasing resin charm anklets! I’m always expanding my products and open to suggestions from my customers.

Do you have a favorite product or design to make?

I always find the art of making my earrings the most intriguing. I feel like they are my product I can personalize and uniquely make the most. I love to brainstorm and experiment with earring designs, nothing is impossible to me.

Who are some artists that inspire you?

My friend @nastywomanearrings has been so helpful throughout this entire process. I kind of went in blind-sided creating my own business and she has been so hopeful the whole time! She also creates the most beautiful clay earrings. She has been such an inspiration to keep creating products.

Favorite local businesses?

Of course @nastywomanearrings clay earrings she creates the most unique pieces; @peachesnailss creates the most wonderful press on nails; @syds.sales creates fun, spunky clay earrings; @ethereal_creationss creates more irresistible clay earrings.

What are your hopes for Resin the Roof’s future?

I have recently secured a spot at Common Goods in Youngstown, Ohio to start selling my product in the store! I am so excited for this opportunity and to see where my business goes in the future.

Other than that, I am always looking to expand Resin the Roof, I am currently working on a website and can’t wait to see what other success I see in the future.
